For the total sanitation coverage of the Manipur block of Garibandh district Public Health Engineering Department –PHE Raipur had taken the initiative to work on the of small section of Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan. The work of NBA was carried out in Garibandh panchayat. In the starting of the project it was announced before the community that the villages covered under the selected Pachayat possessing zero defecation will be awarded as Nirmal Gram Panchayat under this project.

Activities-

• Construction of individual household latrines
• Regular sanitation practices in Schools and Aanganwadis
• Construction and repairing of existing hand pumps for drinking water
• Organizing street theatre and folk arts among target households

Achievements-

• No open defecation in GP
• Maximum attendance in school registers
• Availability of drinking water throughout the year
• Awareness among community for maintaining cleanliness and used to of hygiene practices in routine life.
